Today we talk about… BREEDING
Let’s start from the ABC: what makes an excellent breeder? The choice of the dam lines and the goal. This is the opinion of Renato Carisoli, owner and manager of San Giacomo Horses Stud.
“The real capital of the stud is represented by our dams that we have carefully selected in the international equestrian panorama over the years.
France, Germany, the Nederland offer an incredible choice of horses. It is important to identify those dams possessing the essential characters to obtain a world champion, an Olympic horse, a foundation sire or foundation mare. Horse breeding is the result of a continuous selection process that has to confirm the choices and goals year after year.”

Roccolo Park, established in 1991 to protect the area and promote agricultural development, is a natural wonderland with many places of particular interest. The great variety of its trees and flora and the traditional farm buildings found there, are all testaments to its very long history. The circuit, which winds its way through delights of nature and various landscapes, over meadows and fields and through woods, is approximately 5 km and open all year round. Starting from the resort town of Parabiago in Ravello, you go through Ravellino up to the farm of the same name, which even today maintains the characteristic elements of traditional Lombard farmhouses. Near the farm you will see a small vineyard from which the locals obtained an excellent wine.
Following this road, turn right and then, shortly thereafter, again on the right, after the old stables, you will find the entrance to the Roccolo woods. Having passed through Roccolo, you reach a local road, where you turn left and go into the forest. You arrive at a path that runs along-side an industrial building , and continue to the local country road then turn left near the grove of trees and continue along a path and then go to the left, along the route of a disused power line back to the old stables.
Arluno is a delightful old town about 10 minutes from Milan, completely immersed in the tranquility of woods and countryside. The route that we propose is a wonderful walk in these woods which are of particular interest due to the nature, landscape and historical elements found there. The circuit is about 6 km long and open all year round. The path winds through historical agricultural centers and monumental oaks which host rare species of birds such as the lapwing and heron. Starting from the town of Arluno, follow the road called via Villoresi which runs along the secondary canal, until you reach the former quarry. Then, continue to the Arluno woods. Keep going through the woods.
When you reach a fork in the road, keep to your right, and then, turn left immediately after passing a small farmhouse, on the right you will see a road leading to the old Poglianasca farmhouse (at the first crossroad turn left and at the second turn right). Once past the farm, turn right and continue until you reach the Signù road. After about 900 metres turn left and return to Arluno on the road that runs along the secondary canal.
Milan is a beautiful city with a wealth of historical and artistic monuments which bear witness to its centuries-old story as an economic and cultural power in widely varying geopolitical realities. The route that we propose is very interesting and winds its way around the principal Milanese monuments. We believe it will give you the key to discovering the charm of Milan’s “must-see” sights. Our journey starts in the square containing the city’s symbol the Cathedral, il Duomo, the jewel created through six centuries work at interpreting the Gothic style. It is an imposing marble building with more than 3500 statues adorning its imposing presence. Our itinerary continues with the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, an elegant covered walkway in the center of Milan that connects Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Scala. In the typical architectural style of Milan in the mid-1800s, the gallery boasts prestigious shops, famous restaurants and cafés. Continuing on our discovery tour of Milan, you must not forget the Teatro alla Scala, the most famous opera house in Italy. Also known as the temple of opera, it is located in one of the city’s most elegant squares, and offers visitors an interesting museum where there are several exceptional collections of paintings, costumes and truly unique objects. Another monument very dear to Milanese is the Sforzesco Castle, a masterpiece of the 1300s, holding within its walls generation’s worth of history and mystery – the centrepiece of adventure and dark drama. Over time, the wonderful castle has taken on the aspect of a culture centre, in fact, the complex houses several museums and preserves masterpieces by artists such as Bramantino, Michelangelo and Canaletto.
Milan is rich in ancient churches, among which we include the Basilica of Sant`Ambrogio, one of the oldest churches in the city and considered the finest example of Romanesque architecture in Lombardy. Finally, we suggest you visit the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the wonderful world renowned fresco located in the refectory: The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. (Reservations strongly recommended).
